Life

Stuhler received his doctorate in 1970 with Martin Kneser at the University of Göttingen ( conjugation classes of unipotent elements in simple algebraic groups of type and G2 ).

From 1980 he was a professor at the University of Wuppertal and has been a professor at the University of Göttingen since October 1993.

Stuhler deals with arithmetic geometry, cohomology of arithmetic groups, Drinfeld modules, representation theory of p-adic groups and p-adic uniformization (in which he partly worked with Peter Schneider ).

In 1992, together with Gérard Laumon and Michael Rapoport , he proved the Langlands conjectures in the local case for function fields (Inventiones Mathematicae 1993).
