Helga Hieden-Summer

Helga Hieden-Sommer (born March 11, 1934 in Villach ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and sociologist. Hieden-Sommer was a member of the Federal Council and a member of the National Council .

Life

After elementary school, Helga Hieden-Sommer attended the Bundesrealgymnasium Villach between 1945 and 1953 and then graduated from the federal teacher training institute in Innsbruck from 1953 to 1954. She then taught at elementary and secondary schools in the Villach district between 1955 and 1963, studied at the University of Kansas in Lawrence between 1957 and 1958 and studied psychology, ethnology and sociology at the University of Vienna from 1964 to 1969 . In 1969, Hieden-Sommer received her doctorate and from 1969 was a professor at the Federal Education Academy in Carinthia.

Hieden-Sommer acted as chairwoman of the state women's committee from 1979 and was a member of the state party executive of the SPÖ Carinthia and represented the SPÖ between June 11, 1979 and May 32, 1983 and from December 18, 1987 to November 30, 1988 in the Federal Council, whereby she chaired the Bundesrat in the second half of 1987. She was also a member of the National Council from June 1, 1983 to December 16, 1986 and from December 1, 1988 to November 4, 1990.
