Ulugh Beigh is an impact crater on the northwestern edge of the moon front on the western edge of Oceanus Procellarum . The rim of the crater is very badly eroded and largely leveled.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1961 after the Timurid astronomer and mathematician Ulugh Beg from Samarkand .
