As Umgrignardierung refers to a chemical reaction , in which the alkyl radical R 2 in a Grignard reagent 2 (an alkynyl group herein) is replaced by another organic group, where z. B. an alkynylmagnesium compound 3 and a hydrocarbon 4 arise:
