reversal
Reversal is called in music :
- a reflection in a melodic line , i.e. the exchange of the direction of pitch movement (mirroring on the horizontal), often found in counterpoint ( counterfugue ), especially canon and fugue, as well as in twelve-tone music (the mirroring on a vertical axis is called Krebs );
- the interval reversal ;
- a chord whose bass note (lowest note) does not match the root note , for example a sixth chord ("1st inversion") or a sixth chord ("2nd inversion").
