The environmental station is run by the non-profit development association Umweltstation Lias-Grube Unterstürmig eV, in which those responsible from science, politics and society are involved on a voluntary basis. With funding and donations, the association employs specialists who organize and carry out specific educational offers.

Objectives of the project

Those in charge of the environmental station want to sensitize as many people as possible of all ages to the responsible and careful handling of our natural heritage and our livelihoods. This goal is implemented by imparting basic knowledge about ecological interrelationships as well as practical information about nature and environmental protection in a wide range of events. In particular, you can develop your own ideas on nature conservation, landscape management and ecology in seminars and projects in the clay pit's outdoor area and implement them immediately under the guidance of a specialist. The finished projects are provided with explanatory display boards and are preserved as a constantly growing “ecological educational trail”. Sustainable learning should also flow into as many areas of regional environmental work as possible. For this purpose, the environmental station Lias-Grube Unterstürmig offers all specialists and interested parties from municipalities, institutions for child, youth and adult education, associations, schools and project groups practical and theoretical support in their environmental educational work.
