Today the village of Boslar belongs to the city of Linnich in the Düren district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
geography
In terms of landscape, Boslar belongs to the intensively arable Jülich-Zülpicher Börde .
location
The village lies above the Malefinkbach between Tetz and Hompesch . In the north it borders on Gevenich , Kofferen and Hottorf , in the south on Broich and the A44 .
history
The place is mentioned in a document in the Middle Ages as Villa Boslare 867. The spelling of the name has changed many times over the years.
In the early Middle Ages, Boslar was already a " Dingstuhl ", a court with a Dingbuche, to which numerous surrounding villages belonged. At the end of the 14th century this court was merged with the Dingstuhl Körrenzig to form the Boslar office in the Duchy of Jülich .
The Lords of Palant and the Dukes of Jülich alternately held the church patronage.
The villagers were entitled to inheritance on Buchholzbusch, which until the middle of the 19th century lay north of Körrenzig and Hottdorf.
On February 24, 1945, Boslar was captured by American soldiers of the 102nd Infantry Division of the 9th US Army in the course of Operation Grenade .
On July 1, 1969, Boslar was incorporated into Linnich.
Jewish Cemetery
In the hallway Am Mühlenbruch between Boslar and Tetz, the Jewish cemetery established in 1874 commemorates the Jewish community of Boslar. There are still six gravestones ( Mazevot ) there. The Jewish community arose at the beginning of the 19th century and belonged to the synagogue community of Müntz .
