history

The original meaning of the name "Holzdorf" refers to the trees that were previously present on the Jülich Börde , in particular the Buchholz bush, which extended north to Lövenich and Katzem until the middle of the 19th century.

In 1340 a chapel was built in Hottorf . The church patronage had first the Lords of Palant and Breitenbend and later the German Order coming in Siersdorf . At the time of French rule around 1800, Hottorf was an independent Mairie . Between Hottorf and the neighboring community in the north of Lövenich , until it was completely cleared in the middle of the 19th century, the beechwood bush, which has been used jointly according to old bush regulations since the Middle Ages, lay.

There is a former manor in the village. In the 15th century the Meerhof belonged to the von Müntz family , then von Horrich . In the 17th century by Oidtmann , from 1837 by Meer . The estate burned down twice; in the 19th century and in World War II. Two round towers have been preserved from the original structure at the corners of the courtyard. Today the courtyard is a monument.

On February 24, 1945, Boslar was captured by American soldiers of the 102nd Infantry Division of the 9th US Army in the course of Operation Grenade .
