Rurdorf is one of the smallest districts of the city of Linnich ( Düren district ).

The village lies on the left side of the Rur between Jülich and Linnich and has Linnich, Floßdorf and Welz as direct neighbors.
history
The village was first mentioned in a document in 945 under the name Ruodesthorp . The place name Rurdorf , which has survived to this day, was probably created by 1273, when the current name was first mentioned.
Until 1794, Rurdorf and its neighboring town of Welz were in the Duchy of Limburg and thus formed an enclave in the Duchy of Jülich .
On February 23, 1945, the 102nd US Infantry Division of the Ninth US Army managed to cross the flood-leading Rur between Linnich and Rurdorf.
On July 1, 1969, Rurdorf was incorporated into Linnich.
