Ita von Lothringen Countess in Klettgau , also Ida von Metz (* 23 July around 995 , † after 1035 ) is supposedly the ancestor of the Habsburgs . Her first name also occurs as Itha and in the French form Ide.

Life

Ita was the daughter of Adalbert II. Count in Saargau (Adalbert von Metz) from the family of Matfriede and Judith von Öhningen (Judith von Schwaben), daughter of Konrad I von Schwaben .

She married Radbot von Habsburg , Count im Klettgau (* around 980, † 1045), the builder of the Habichtsburg ( Habsburg ), son of Lanzelin von Muri and Liutgard von Nellenburg .

From this marriage there were four children:

  • Otto I († June 28, 1046), Count in Sundgau
  • Albertus I or Adelbert I († July 12, 1046), or according to another source † 1056
  • Werner I. (* around 1020; † November 11, 1096)
  • Richenza von Habsburg (* around 1020 † on May 27, 1080) ∞ Count Ulrich II. Von Lenzburg

Together with her husband, Ita founded the Muri monastery in 1027 , which began as a Habsburg monastery with Benedictines from Einsiedeln .

Ita is buried together with Radbot in the monastery church of Muri .
