Werner I. (Habsburg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Werner I. Count von Habsburg (* 1030 ; † November 11, 1096 ) was the third son of Radbot von Habsburg .

Life

Count Werner renounced the rule of the Muri monastery in 1082 and had the old hermit customs abolished by monks from St. Blasien . Muri was converted into a protective bailiwick.

The count involved in the marriage affairs of Duke Rudolf von Rheinfelden (Duke of Swabia 1057-1077 and German rival king 1077-1080) was "Rudolfs Cognatus [a relative on the maternal side] Werner", who is probably Count Werner von Habsburg - this circumstance offers an indication of the relationship between the Rhine fields and the Habsburgs, otherwise known only from the Muri sources . By marrying Regulinda von Baden, the Habsburgs entered into a family relationship with the Rhaetian noble family von Lenzburg , who were particularly wealthy in Aargau and who, as patrons of the Säckingen monastery, were also of great influence in the Albgau area on the right bank of the Rhine .
