Hans Ulrich Fisch
Hans Ulrich Fisch (* 1583 ; † 1647 in Aarau ), also Hans Ulrich I Fisch , was a Swiss glass painter and book illustrator . He also held a number of political offices.
Life
Hans Ulrich Fisch, who often bears Stein's increase , is the son of Johannes Fisch and Margareta Saxer. The family comes from Stein in Appenzell , but settled in Brugg and then moved to Aarau , where they finally received citizenship. Hans Ulrich became a citizen of Aarau in 1623 and a gross woman in 1624. In 1633 he was appointed to the small council of Aarau, where he held various offices. In 1644 he was appointed town clerk of Aarau. He belonged to the Reformed denomination.
His first wife, Adelheid Engelhard, died in 1615 and left him four sons. Among them were two who followed him into the glass painting trade, Hans Baltasar Fisch (1608–1656) and Hans Ulrich II Fisch (1613–1644). He entered into a second marriage with Ester Schach. Hans Ulrich III Fisch (1648–1701) is his grandson.
Works
Hans Ulrich Fisch was a very talented artist. He worked as a glass painter , window puller , heraldist , topographer and book illustrator . Despite his reformed faith, he received orders from Catholic institutions.

- City vedute (1612) for the town hall of Aarau, where it still hangs today.
- Work group in Wettingen Monastery .
- Eight-part class cycle (1622) in the reformed church of Gontenschwil .
- Wapenbůch und Stamm Baum: The great, translucent, high and noble princes and lords: Ertzhert moved to Austria and Counts of Habspurg . And brought to the special honor of highly praiseworthy roots and painted with the right color and illuminated by Joann Ůlrich Fisch. Aarau 1627 ( Hans Ulrich Fisch's book of arms , 141 sheets, 31.5 × 19.5 cm).
The Bernisches Historisches Museum ( Wyss collection ) has around 50 torn panes by Hans Ulrich Fisch.
