Remarks

This quadrille, which is still popular today, was compiled from motifs from the opera Un ballo in maschera (A masked ball) by Giuseppe Verdi . In doing so, the composer continued a tradition of quadrilles based on motifs from stage works by other composers. After the successful premiere, the work became an integral part of the repertoire of the Strauss Kapelle. It is performed again and again to this day.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 5 minutes and 58 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
