In the song, a man describes a series of strange events while sitting alone in a train compartment .

While a heavy storm is raging over a train station, he climbs into the last compartment of an empty train in the dark. When getting in, he feels that someone is getting in behind him, but cannot see anyone. Despite the rain and thunder, he believes he can clearly hear the voice of a woman screaming: Don't wanna be under your thumb forever, it's over and done. (I don't want to stand / live forever under your thumb. It's over.) . He rolls a cigarette and while smoking he can still hear the voice and smell the woman's perfume . Suddenly the woman emerges from the darkness right in front of him, opens the window and screams out the chorus of the song: Don't wanna be under your thumb forever, it's over and done.

Thereupon the man takes one lying around old newspaper and read the headline "Woman throws herself from speeding train, identity unknown." ( "Woman jumps from the running of the train. Identity unknown." ) In addition, the photo of the unknown dead woman. However, the man immediately recognizes the woman as the one he has just seen. Under the photo it says: Don't wanna be under your thumb forever, it's over and done.
