The União Promotora Para o Progresso ( Portuguese for Union for the Promotion of Progress , Chinese群 力 促進會, UPP for short ) is a political party in the Macau Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China . As a result of the 2017 general election , the party is represented by one member in the Legislative Assembly of Macau .

history

On December 30, 1983, the organization União Geral das Associações dos Moradores de Macau ( Portuguese for General Association of Inhabitants of Macau , Chinese澳門 街坊 會 聯合 總會) was founded. From 1991 this organization took part in elections to the Legislative Assembly together with the Associação Geral das Mulheres de Macau (Portuguese for Macau Women's Association , Chinese 澳門 婦女 聯合 總會) and the Association of Returned Overseas Chinese in Macau , not yet as a UPP under Portuguese sovereignty, but as UNIPRO. Since 2001 the party has been permanently represented in the Legislative Assembly under the name União Promotora Para o Progresso (UPP). In the 2017 parliamentary election, the União Promotora Para o Progresso was only supported by the União Geral das Associações dos Moradores de Macau , while the Associação Geral das Mulheres de Macau, with the Aliança do Bom Lar, set up its own electoral list.

Alignment

The União Promotora Para o Progresso is a Chinese - conservative party and part of the pro-Beijing camp . The party’s principles are extensive unity between Macau and the People’s Republic of China, securing the livelihood of the residents, and patriotism and love for the People’s Republic of China. The organization also provides services to residents.
