Unifrax is an American manufacturer of high temperature wool owned by private equity firm American Securities .
history
As 1891 The Carborundum Company ( " carborundum founded -Gesellschaft"). Ceramic fiber was invented there in 1942 and brought onto the market in 1951 under the trade name Fiberfrax . The company was owned by British Petroleum , who sold it to Saint-Gobain in 1996 . The fiber business was spun off as Unifrax and sold to the investor Kirtland Capital Partners . This passed the company on to American Securities Capital Partners in 2003.
In 2013, the Thuringian company Lauscha Fiber International was taken over.
