Unikkatil (born March 18, 1981 as Viktor Palokaj in Pristina , SFR Yugoslavia ) is an Albanian rapper . He is considered one of the first and most famous Albanian rappers and leads the rapper group Bloody Alboz (also TBA ).

Life

Unikkatil spent most of his childhood in Pristina. There he attended the Samir Frasheri high school, from which he was expelled due to a lack of discipline and fights. He also attended karate classes for a while. In 1995 his best friend was hit by a train and fatally injured. The song Shpirti n´paqe is dedicated to him. Since the situation in Kosovo was tense at the time and many of his songs criticized the Serbian government, they were not played on the radio. Shortly before the start of the Kosovo war , he and his family fled to the USA. Unikkatil is married and has one son.

Music career

Even though he had released many songs before, Unikkatil's career really started in 1998. Together with other Albanian rappers, he founded the TBA label, which is an abbreviation for "The Bloody Alboz", in 1998. Over the years, he released 5 albums and countless songs and became one of the most famous and successful rappers in the Albanian region in the Albanian diaspora. In 2012 he held the largest concert in Kosovo to date. In the following years he released more songs. In the summer of 2019 he made a small tour through Kosovo and Albania.

The musical style of Unikkatil is based on the G-Funk of the West Coast hip hop as well as to the southern rap . He also uses a complex instrumentation and includes traditional Albanian instruments in his songs.
