The Union for the Promotion of Oil and Protein Plants e. V. (UFOP) is a German association that advocates the interests of all those involved in the production, processing and marketing of domestic oil and protein crops . It was founded in 1990 by the German Farmers' Association (DBV) and the Federal Association of German Plant Breeders (BDP). The seat of the association and the federal office are in Berlin.

Focus

The focus of the work of the UFOP is the promotion of oil crop cultivation and the use of vegetable oil in Germany. Both the strengthening of the vegetable oil market in the food industry as well as energetic use in the form of biodiesel or direct use of vegetable oil as well as the animal feed sector, for example through rapeseed cake , are being pursued.

The goals are achieved through extensive information and political lobbying on a national and international level. Research into new exploitation options and development as well as the optimization of agricultural production through targeted research funding and support for variety testing are also among the core tasks.
