Unipps is an object-oriented ERP system and is mainly used in medium-sized manufacturing companies. Unipps is a product of the software and system house COMTRI and is used in many well-known companies such as Marposs, Dietz, Geringhoff and in workshops for people with disabilities.
history
The idea for Unipps came up in 1992. Knoll Maschinenbau GmbH realized that there was no standard ERP software on the market that met the requirements of the manufacturing company and therefore decided to have its own software developed under the name Unipps . The aim was to write business applications using a simple programming language. With the business informatics department headed by Professor Anton Frick (head of the business informatics department), the first version of the Unipps 4GL development language and the associated generator was developed.
After an initial intensive development phase, Unipps was first installed by Knoll Informationssysteme GmbH in 1995 and used in their own company. In 1997 Unipps reached the desired product maturity and was brought onto the market. One of the first customers of the new ERP system was the Marposs company in Weinstadt. Thanks to its convincing functionality, unipps quickly gained new users.
The success of the new ERP software increased rapidly. In 2000, Unipps was named among the top ten ERP systems in mechanical engineering according to a study by Konradin Verlag. Just one year later, Unipps took second place in the PPS test by is-report magazine.
In 2003, Unipps was taken over by ComTRI Business Solutions GmbH, after Knoll Informationssysteme GmbH had to file for bankruptcy. Since 2008 Unipps has been continuously developed in cooperation with a Russian software company in St. Petersburg. To this day, Unipps is distributed by ComTRI Business Solutions GmbH and has established itself on the ERP system market.

Supported Operating Systems
The majority of users use Unipps for Windows in the client and server area. This has been possible since 1996. Since 1999 Unipps can also be used in Linux environments, initially in the server area and since 2000 also in the client area. In addition, Unipps has been in use for AIX and HP-UX for many years. Currently, unipps is mostly used under Microsoft operating systems, here often also as a terminal server application.
Database
Standard relational databases are supported in Unipps, including Microsoft SQL Server and Informix .
System properties
One of the unique selling points of unipps is the integrated product configurator , which enables the user to create highly automated processes (generation of description texts, prices, parts lists and multi-level production plans). This is done using Boolean algorithms that users use to define the product logic of their variants and also manage them dynamically. The users are free to decide whether to use the product generator or to develop their products with classic ERP functionalities.
Updates
Small release changes and bug fixes are automatically imported and can be downloaded from a central server. Larger updates can have an impact on business processes, which is why these are usually implemented in conjunction with training in the companies.
Customer-specific adjustments, which are usually only required to a small extent, are releasable and therefore do not generate any additional costs when a release is changed.
Updates are included in the maintenance contract. However, additional costs may arise for form adaptations or the like, which can be implemented either by specialist staff from ComTRI Business Solutions GmbH or by external or in-house specialists.

The Unipps ERP system can only be obtained from ComTRI Business Solutions GmbH. In addition to the official Unipps specialists, companies can also use independent IT specialists who specialize in ERP systems and have knowledge of Crystal Reports to adapt the system.
