Universal Transport (full name Universal Transport Michels GmbH & Co. KG) is a German transport company with its headquarters in Paderborn . The Universal Transport Group achieved a turnover of 180 million euros in 2018 with its 750 employees and 350 heavy-duty trucks.
According to some studies, Universal Transport is the market leader in the area of large and heavy haulage in Germany and has a market share of around 10%.
The group of companies specializes in the construction industry, renewable energies, rail vehicles, industry, large vehicles and aero.
history
The company was founded in 1953 by the brothers Heinrich and Hans-Joachim Michels. The main purpose was to transport gravel, concrete, oil and coal. In 1960 the first supra-regional silo transport was carried out with our own fleet of vehicles. When the son Andre Michels joined the management in 1970, large and heavy transports were added as a new focus.
Züst & Bachmeier Project GmbH has been part of the Universal Transport Group since March 2016. The group has been involved in global project business since the end of 2013.
In June 2018, the Czech heavy haulage company Nosreti as was taken over with retroactive effect from January 1, 2018. As a result, the Universal Transport Group is growing by almost 50 employees and 30 towing units.

Trivia
Universal Transport is a well-known company in the model making scene. The reason for this is the large selection of different truck models in 1:87 scale. In addition, new models are designed and published once a year together with the manufacturers.
