University of Kurdistan

The University of Kurdistan ( Persian دانشگاه کردستان) began its activity in 1974 as a mathematics teacher training college. A year later, a faculty of the Razi University Kermanshah in Sanandaj , the capital of the Iranian province of Kurdistan and Sanandaj Faculty of Teacher Training was named from the seminar . In addition to math teachers, chemistry and English teachers were trained there. Due to the research activities of the faculty, it was granted university status in 1991. As a result, the university was expanded to include further faculties and courses of study and currently (as of 2018) it has 8 faculties with 51 departments offering 172 Bachelor and Master courses.
