Northampton University (13th century)
The University of Northampton was a 1261 in / 62 Northampton founded university , which was disbanded 1265th
In 1260 there were clashes between the members of Cambridge from the north and south of England, which caused part of the faculty to flee from the north to Northampton. The foundation enjoyed the support of Heinrich III. ; a Royal Letter dated February 1, 1261 called on the Notabelen of Northampton to support the refugees. However, there was no royal charter to establish the university. During the interruption of operations at Oxford University in 1264, more students and teachers probably came to Northampton from there. Both Oxford and Cambridge used their political influence to end the newly created competition, so that Henry III. it dissolved again in 1265.
