The Novosibirsk State University - also the Novosibirsk State University and Novosibirsk State University from the Russian : Новосибирский государственный университет, Nowosibirski gossudarstwenny uniwersitet or short НГУ , NGU - is a Founded in 1959, Russian University in the Siberian city of Novosibirsk with more than 6500 students. Parts of the university are located in Akademgorodok .

The university, which was built up in a very short time, was considered one of the leading Soviet universities in the scientific and technical field due to its research activities in connection with the Siberian location of the Soviet Academy of Sciences in Akademgorodok. In the 1990s, however, many researchers left the university and emigrated to the USA. The location has become more attractive again in recent years.
