The University of Utsunomiya ( Japanese 宇 都 宮 大学 , Utsunomiya daigaku , short: Udai ( 宇 大 )) is a state university in Japan . The main campus is located in Minemachi, Utsunomiya in Tochigi Prefecture .
history
The university was founded in 1949 through the merger of the following state technical schools: the Utsunomiya School of Agriculture and Forestry ( 宇 都 宮 農林 専 門 学校 , Utsunomoya nōrin semmon gakkō , founded 1922), the normal school Tochigi ( 栃 木 師範学校 , Tochigi shihan gakkō , founded 1873) und the normal youth school Tochigi ( 栃 木 青年 師範学校 , Tochigi his shihan gakkō , founded in 1922).
Initially, two faculties (Agricultural Science and Liberal Arts ) were opened and in 1964 the technical faculty was set up on the Yōtō campus (its predecessor was a state technical university, founded in 1961). In 1966 the Faculty of Liberal Arts was renamed the Faculty of Education. In 1994 the Faculty of International Studies was founded.
The current mine campus is the former campus of the Utsunomiya School of Agriculture and Forestry. It was one of the few schools that had the Agricultural Economics course . She lost the main building in a fire in 1949. Your auditorium and front yard still remain on campus today.
