The Yanbian University of Science and Technology (English: Yanbian University of Science and Technology , in short YUST ; Chinese 延边科技大学 , pinyin Yanbian Keji Daxue ; kor. 연대 과학 기술 대학 , Hanja 延邊科技大學 , rev. Yeondae Gwahak Gisul Daehak , Colloquially also Yankeda ( 延 科 大 , Yánkēdà ) is a research university in the city of Yanji , in the northeast Chinese province of Jilin . It is the first Chinese joint venture university in the Yanbian Autonomous District .
history
YUST emerged from an initiative of the Northeast Asia Foundation for Education & Culture (German: Northeast Asian Foundation for Education and Culture ), which expressed plans for a private Korean-Chinese university in 1988. In October 1989 the foundation stone was laid and construction work began. In 1993 the first 200 students graduated. In October 2010, the sister university Pyongyang University of Science and Technology opened in Pyongyang .
The North Korean Child Program (German: Program for North Korean Children ) of the YUST PUST Foundation and NAFEC Seoul is coordinated by employees of the university. They buy relief supplies in China and bring them to North Korea.
