The University of Macau ( Chinese  澳門 大學 , Pinyin Àomén Dàxué , Yale O Mun Dai Hok ), founded in 1981 as the University of East Asia , is a public law university in the Macau Special Administrative Region of China . The campus is located in the east of the island of Hengqin (Guangdong Province, mainland China) on a 109-hectare site that has been leased to the Macau Special Administrative Region and transferred to its jurisdiction.

The university currently offers over 100 degree programs in English , Portuguese , Standard Chinese and Japanese and is Macau's premier educational institution. In 2011, the university had more than 8,000 full-time students from 41 countries, making it the largest university in Macau. It has nine partnership agreements with German universities.
