University archive of Tübingen

The University Archive of Tübingen is the archive of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen .

As a public archive, the Tübingen University Archives are responsible for the university's documents in accordance with the Baden-Württemberg State Archives Act. It is housed in the building of the Tübingen University Library .

The year 1865 was found to be the year in which the archive was founded, when a senate resolution transferred the written material from before 1750 to the university library. The university archive was a separate collection of the manuscript department until it was placed directly under the rector by resolution of the Senate on June 4, 1964. It has been a department of the Tübingen University Library since 2015 .

With a total volume of approx. 4000 running meters , it is one of the larger university archives in Germany . An inventory overview and numerous online finding aids are available on the Internet .

The university archive also has additional collections of museum objects, the time spectrum of which extends from the early modern period to the middle of the 20th century and is organized by the Museum of the University of Tübingen MUT .
