University Society Erfurt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Universitätsgesellschaft Erfurt is the funding company of the University of Erfurt . It emerged from a citizens' initiative founded in 1987, which contributed significantly to the re-establishment of the University of Erfurt in 1994. The company supports research and teaching, helps to attract sponsors and tries to anchor the university in the consciousness of the citizens of the city of Erfurt and the state of Thuringia . This is done, among other things, by maintaining the heritage of the Old University, which existed from 1379 to 1816. Together with the Evangelical Church, the COLLEGIUM MAIUS EVENING is organized in the former main building of the Old University, the re-establishment of which the Society had also played a key role in since 1987.
