The Universitätsgesellschaft Münster eV (formerly: Society for the Promotion of the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität eV) has been supporting the Münster University since 1918 wherever state funds are not available or insufficient. The task is to promote where education and research happen so that the Westphalian Wilhelms University can continue to fulfill its socially important tasks in the future. This is done by funding projects from research, teaching, culture and student initiatives at the WWU Münster. The prize for the promotion of young scientists is also awarded annually to outstanding young scientists.
