The University for Development Studies (UDS for short) in Tamale is one of the seven universities in Ghana. It is the northernmost of all universities and was founded in 1992 as the fifth university in Ghana. At the UDS, students can take the subjects of agriculture, medicine, applied natural sciences, integrated development studies, and interdisciplinary research.

The university is divided into five teaching centers:
- "Tamale Campus" in Tamale with the Faculty of Medicine and Health (also the seat of the administration) 9 ° 22 ′ 26 ″ N, 0 ° 53 ′ 3 ″ W
- "Nyankpala Tamale Campus" in Nyankpala near Tamale with the Faculty of Agriculture 9 ° 25 ′ 4 ″ N, 0 ° 59 ′ 7 ″ W
