The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas , USA, usually called MD Anderson , is one of the largest cancer clinics in the USA. In addition to the main location in Houston , Texas, there are also regional care centers and, since 2000, an associated MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid in Spain.

The center is considered a leader in the United States, if not worldwide, in cancer research and teaching, as well as in treatment.

The cancer clinic was named after Monroe Dunaway Anderson , a banker and cotton merchant from Jackson , Tennessee . It was founded in 1941 as part of the University of Texas system . In 2014 the clinic had over 20,000 employees and treated over 127,000 patients.

Research and application areas of the MD Anderson Center include analysis, therapy and prevention of all types of cancer.
