Jackson is located in a fertile area in western Tennessee on the Forked Deer River .
history
The settlement of Jackson along the Forked Deer River began before 1820. The original name of the place was Alexandria , the name was changed to Jackson in 1822 in honor of the general and later US President Andrew Jackson .
In 1888 Jackson had 5377 residents.
