The company is active in two business areas: as a manufacturer of light alloy wheels in the European accessories market ( Accessory Division ) with the individual brands ATS , Rial, Alutec and Anzio, and as one of the largest wheel suppliers for the automotive industry ( Automotive Division ) worldwide. In addition, the Uniwheels Group equips professional motorsport racing series with high-tech wheels.

history

The starting point of the company, whose roots lie in the late 1960s, is the founding of Alutec Leichtmetallfelgen GmbH in 1996 by Ralf Schmid. In 1998 the takeover of Rial Leichtmetallfelgen GmbH took place. From the year 2000 a new Alutec / Rial production plant for light metal rims was built in Stalowa Wola , Poland. In the years that followed, capacities were continuously expanded and a modern paint shop was put into operation. In 2005 the Uniwheels Group was formed based on Alutec and Rial.

In February 2008, Uniwheels took over the European activities of the ATS Group (2007 turnover of around 240 million euros) with the main plant in Werdohl and a larger plant at the existing Uniwheels production site in Stalowa Wola. This increased the production volume from two million to seven million wheels per year.

In 2014, Uniwheels Holding (Germany) GmbH was converted into Uniwheels AG. On May 8, 2015, Uniwheels AG went public on the Warsaw Stock Exchange . In March 2016, the share was included in the index of medium-sized companies, the mWIG40 .

At the end of March 2017, it was announced that the founders and until then majority shareholders of Uniwheels, Ralf and Michael Schmid, had sold their 61.3% shares to the US competitor Superior Industries for the equivalent of more than 660 million euros.
