Our youth

Our youth - the magazine for the study and practice of social education - is a German specialist journal on theory and practice of social education and social work . The specialist journal has been published by Ernst Reinhardt Verlag in Munich since 1954 , currently ten times a year with two double issues. The annual volume is about 500 pages.

history

1949 became our youth. Journal for youth welfare in science and practice (later subtitle: Journal for practice and science ) launched by the head of the municipal youth welfare office in Munich, Elisabeth Bamberger . It was published by M. Steinebach. The first co-editors were Hermine Albers , Adolf Busemann , Gustav von Mann and Ella Kay . Andreas Mehringer was responsible for 38 years as the first editor, who initially focused on contributions from the then controversial home education. In his autobiography he later recalled:

“Of course, home education was and still is ... the preferred topic; here we have certainly been able to help that the old institution was given up, especially for the very helpless children in the home, namely infants. "

With its current articles on the situation of children and young people and their social environment, our youth addresses specialists in child and youth welfare, in homes, in day-care centers and other socio-educational institutions. It is also aimed at students and teachers at specialist schools / academies for social education and universities, at employees in youth welfare offices and social authorities as well as at educational and social policy makers.

Each issue includes an editorial by the editors, a key topic as well as many current reports, dates, reviews from the fields of child and youth welfare, general social work and social education.
