Subfloor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The subsoil is the lower area of the soil that has little or no humus , that is only slightly rooted and hardly revitalized , in the deepest part of which the weathering of the rock below takes place and in which substances washed out from the topsoil are enriched.

If the soil is cultivated through arable farming, then the entire area covered by the cultivation counts as topsoil and the area not covered as subsoil.

Based on the formation and development of the soil, the topsoil also includes those soil horizons from which clay minerals , oxides and salts are washed out.
