Lower Weingartsmühle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lower Weingartsmühle (also Hußnersmühle , Wagnersmühle ) is a deserted area in the district of Geiselwind in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen . The mill was abandoned in the 18th century.

Geographical location

The desert is located immediately south of the still preserved Weingartsmühle , the former Upper Weingartsmühle, on the Ebrach. Further south, the federal motorway 3 leads past the deserted area. In the east is the hammer mill of Füttersee , in the west, about 1.3 km away, the Burkardus church of Geiselwind. The mill was a remnant of the lost village of Weingarten .

history

Like the Weingartsmühle, its lower counterpart also refers to the former Weingarten settlement. At times, however, the facility was also named after its owner or its use as a fulling or trowel mill . The mill was first mentioned in 1506. "Lohemühl" and "Weingartten bey des Hussners mül" also appeared in an interest book from the gentlemen of Schwarzenberg . The widow of the former miller Heinz Hussner lived there at the time.

In 1611 the parish register of Geiselwind recorded the master miller Hans Müller from the "lower Weingartsmühl". In 1622 the mill was called "Wagnerßmühl", probably based on the family name of the owner at the time. In 1734 Johann Sternecker Müller was in the "Unterweingartsmühl" before the plant was mentioned in 1755 for the last time. In 1830 the foundations of the former mill were excavated.
