The Lower Eschenbacher Teich is an artificial pond northeast of Clausthal-Zellerfeld in the Upper Harz .

It belongs to the Upper Harz Ponds and was a reservoir that originally served to supply water to the ore mines in the area. It was laid out by miners from Upper Harz in the middle of the 16th century, but only got its current size in the 18th century after a dam was raised and a renovation according to the guidelines of the new pond construction method. The largest possible capacity is 190,000 m³, its dam is around 9 meters high and 160 meters long. It was also known as Alter Eschenbacher Teich.

The pond received its water mainly from the Upper Eschenbacher pond above and later also from the dam ditch via the Haus-Herzberger ponds . Today the pond is primarily used for flood protection. For this reason, it is not normally full, but the water level is about 2 meters below the maximum fill level.

All structures are part of the Upper Harz water shelf and thus belong to the world cultural heritage of the Rammelsberg mine, the old town of Goslar and the Upper Harz water management .
