The Maintenance Assurance Act (USG) in Germany regulates the financial security of reservists doing military service .

history

The Maintenance Security Act was created in 1957 and revised in 1980. Due to fundamental changes in the Bundeswehr in recent decades, including the reorientation of the Bundeswehr with the suspension of compulsory military service , the law was revised on June 29, 2015. The goals of the new version included:

Services

Reservists can acc. Chapter 2 receive the following benefits:

  • § 5 Benefits for non-self-employed (reimbursement of a proven loss of earnings)
  • § 6 Benefits for the self-employed (reimbursement of an assumed loss of earnings on the basis of the last tax return as well as maintenance costs of the business premises)
  • § 8 minimum performance (flat-rate daily rate alternatively instead of benefits according to § 5 or § 6)
  • § 9 Benefits for pension recipients (difference between the last net salary and the current net pension salary)
  • § 11 Premium (daily premium for reservist duty every day)
  • Section 14 Service allowance (second daily bonus for a weekend / holiday reservist service in addition to and in the amount of the premium according to Section 11)
  • § 12 Surcharge for longer service (daily rate for particularly frequent or long-serving reservists from the 15th day of military service per year)
  • Section 13 Surcharge for the obligation to longer service (instead of the surcharge according to Section 12 from the 1st day of military service in the year, if at least 33 days of military service were committed in the year)

Sections 15–19 regulate the surcharges for special functions or burdens, while Sections 20–23 regulate free accommodation, uniforms, equipment and medical care as well as catering for reservists.
