Company Gertrud

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The company Gertrud was the code name of a planned joint German - Bulgarian invasion plan for Turkey during the Second World War . The idea arose at the beginning of the summer of 1942. The background was a feared change of sides by Turkey in favor of the Allies , which actually took place in 1945. The project was abandoned because of the rapid advance of the Red Army in the Caucasus and the Allied invasion of Sicily .
