Undersink pipe for glass sinks

An underwash pipe is a water supply line designed for the catering industry to fill a glass sink . The flush valve regulates the flow of water through the pipe.

function

As a rule, it leads down from the fitting vertically to the pool floor, where it is usually bent at right angles. In contrast to a conventional faucet , which supplies fresh water to the basin from above, an underwash pipe fills the basin from the bottom.

If glasses are cleaned by hand instead of with a dishwasher in the catering industry, fresh water should be constantly supplied to the basin for reasons of hygiene , as stagnant water can germinate and thus pose a health risk. With its water supply from below, the underwash pipe ensures that the fresh water does not run off directly through the upper drain of a sink standpipe , while the already contaminated water remains in the lower area of the basin, but instead a mixing takes place, or stale rinse water through the running water supply is displaced from bottom to top and is discharged there through the drain in a standpipe.

Undersink pipes usually have a nominal diameter of 3/8 inch and are usually offered by specialist retailers for catering supplies.
