The Upper Hamberg Lake is the southernmost and how his English name suggests, the highest of Hamberg Lakes to South Georgia in the South Atlantic . The lake is oval, around 1 km long and 600 m wide. He is prior to the end of Hamberg Glacier and southeast of Glacier Col . The lake was created by the glacier retreat and was discovered on Landsat recordings in 2002 .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2004. It is named after the Swedish geographer, mineralogist and Arctic explorer Axel Hamberg (1863–1933).
