Urania: Music magazine for organ building, organ and harmonium playing was a German-language music magazine published monthly from 1843 to 1911 .

history

The magazine was founded in 1843 by Gotthilf Wilhelm Körner and appeared monthly. Alexander Wilhelm Gottschalg continued it from 1865 until his death in 1908. It was one of the first organ-specific magazines in the world. In addition to organ-related articles, it also contained contributions on music theory, church music and piano playing. In the course of the 65th year in 1908, Max Puttmann took over the editing. The subtitle was changed from "Vocal and Piano Music" to "Vocal and Instrumental Music". It appeared for the last time in 1911.
