Primeval meristem

Primordial meristems are cells of the plant embryo that can divide. But they can also emerge directly from the tissue of the embryo. If the latter is the case, the cells retain their ability to divide beyond the embryonic stage. All other areas, however, lose or limit their ability to divide.
