Original walk
The original walk is a social experiment by Lucius Burckhardt . The walk took place in Riede in 1976 . The original walk founded the promenadology . The relationship between landscape , character and communication was examined .
course
Karl Heinrich Hülbusch laid out the path of the walk in the form of a loop . Besides Lucius Burckhardt, participants were students from the University of Kassel . The group of walkers left the village of Riede at Riede Castle , went up to an ascent where there is a stone bench with a table, crossed a short agricultural zone to the forest, passed it over various clearings and passed an obelisk and a horse chestnut . Finally the group reached a clearing with a panoramic view, where there is a barbecue area. From the clearing, the group descended into a fertile plain, the so-called “ Schmandkammer ”“, Crossed the fields and finally came back to Riede at a characteristic poplar group .
Task
The most noteworthy places were to be drawn using a landscape map on which the route was drawn. Lucius Burckhardt describes the places as lovely places. In each case the picture of the walk emerged as a summary of routes from excellent locations.
Result
The consistency of the points entered was remarkable. It turned out that the participants had a uniform prediction of landscape perception. All those taking part in the walk felt particularly excited about leaving the village at Schloss Riede. Some participants played the memory that they had seen a fountain, the situation is so strongly influenced by the folk song: At the fountain in front of the gate .
The result is a scenic impression that remains and is taken away. The viewer achieves a remarkable integration achievement by adding up the impressions of the forest entrance, the barbecue area, the village exit, under the term "typical North Hessian landscape". Village, castle, economy, basalt knolls - the landscape from the North Hessian homeland book - stand out more than the individual ones. This integration service is made possible by the term landscape, with which a uniformity is filtered out of a heterogeneous environment, which makes what is seen communicable.
