Ursula Puchebner

Ursula Puchebner (born December 10, 1965 in Amstetten ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 2011 to 2020 she was mayor of the Lower Austrian city ​​of Amstetten.

Life

Ursula Puchebner attended an elementary school and a secondary school and did her Matura in 1985 at the Higher Federal College for Economic Professions ( HLW ) Amstetten. From 1985 to 2000 she was an administrative clerk for the city of Amstetten. Since October 2000 she has been the city's first deputy mayor and headed the social affairs department.

Political career

She has been active in the SPÖ since 1980. In the SPÖ Amstetten she has and had several functions: first as a functionary in the youth organization, for five years as chairwoman of the women's organization and from 2002 to 2013 as chairwoman of the city organization. She is also a member of the state party executive committee of the SPÖ Lower Austria and the state executive committee of the Social Democratic Association of Local Representatives of Lower Austria.

After the Mayor of Amstetten, Herbert Katzengruber, resigned after 23 years in office, Ursula Puchebner was elected by the local council on October 11, 2011 as the successor with 30 of 40 votes, with ten abstentions from the ÖVP . She took office on October 13, 2011. After the municipal council election in Amstetten in January 2020, she announced her resignation from the mayor's office on January 29, 2020. Christian Haberhauer (ÖVP) was elected as her successor .
