User (Gaufürst)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

User (The Strong) was an ancient Egyptian prince of the First Intermediate Period around 2200 BC. Chr.

User is known from an inscription in the tomb of Schemai and his monumental false door , which was found near Khozam in Upper Egypt in 1884 . The false door is made of greywacke , is in good condition and is 2.60 meters high. User carries some high titles on the false door. He was the beloved Father of God , head of the priests , head of Upper Egypt , head of the eastern and western deserts , great head of the Coptic Gau and the eldest natural son of a king . The title Great Head of the Coptic Gau is the title of a Gau prince. The title of eldest biological prince is problematic because it is not certain whether it denotes a real son of the king or whether it is an honorary title. The inscription in the tomb of Schemai is above a badly damaged depiction, but seems to depict the transport of a coffin for the king. It can thus be dated to the end of the 8th dynasty .
