Usman Chalid

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Usman Chalid († 2014 ) was a former brigadier general in the Pakistani armed forces . The general became known to the general public when journalists suspected that he was an informant who enabled Osama bin Laden to be killed in Operation Neptune Spear . It was further suspected that Khalid had obtained American citizenship and had him live in the United States under a new name. The Chalid family rejected these assumptions. Chalid was in the USA for the last time in 1976. In 1979 the General applied for political asylum in Great Britain in protest against the execution of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto . Before that, he had a 25-year military career behind him. The general died of cancer in 2014 while in exile in the UK.
