History and construction

The Utva 212 was designed by the engineers Ilic, Zrnic and Popovic. The plane was a two-seater with a closed cabin and tandem seats. The single-engine wooden construction with retractable tail wheel landing gear was equipped with the low-performance Ranger piston engine and is designed as a low-wing aircraft. The prototype flew at Ikarus in 1948 as Ikarus 212 . Series production of the aircraft took place in the aircraft factory in Pancevo near Utva from 1950 to 1955.
