Uwe Böhme

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Uwe Böhme (* 1962 in Stollberg / Erzgebirge ) is a German chemist and non-fiction author .

Life

Böhme studied chemistry at the TH Leuna-Merseburg . From 1988 to 1992 he worked as a research assistant in Karl-Heinz Thiele's group and received his doctorate in 1992 on the synthesis and reactivity of ring-substituted zirconocene compounds . Work stays during his studies and doctoral studies took him to Warsaw ( Politechnika Warszawska ), Mülheim ( MPI for Coal Research ) and Stuttgart ( MPI for Solid State Research ). After completing his doctorate, he did a postdoc with Robin JH Clark at University College London . Since 1993 he has been working at the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg in the Institute for Inorganic Chemistry. He completed his habilitation in 2004 and is licensed to teach ( Venia Legendi ) for inorganic and theoretical chemistry.

Work areas

The coordination chemistry of silicon is the focus of Boehme's work. He investigates hypercoordinated silicon compounds that he generates using tridentate O, N, O'ligands. The coordination geometry of the silicon can be changed in a targeted manner and tailor-made connections can be created. Another area of work is hydridosilanes as highly reactive precursors for the production of electronic layers and circuits on almost any substrate.
