Uwe Cantner

Uwe Cantner (born August 2, 1960 in Wuppertal ) is a German economist . He is a professor of economics at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . He has been Vice President for Young Scientists and Equal Opportunities since 2014. On May 1, 2019, he took over the chairmanship of the Federal Government's Expert Commission on Research and Innovation (EFI).

Live and act

From 1980 Cantner studied economics at the University of Augsburg and Wayne State University , Detroit. At LMU he wrote his doctoral thesis “Technical Progress, New Goods and International Trade” (1990). He then worked as a research assistant at the University of Augsburg. There he completed his habilitation in 1996 with the thesis “Heterogeneity and Technological Spillovers - Basic Elements of an Economic Theory of Technological Progress”. After stints at the University of Toulon-Var and the University of Rennes 2 , he became Professor of Microeconomics at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena in 2000 . Since 2010 he has also been Professor of Economics at the Syddansk Universitet .
